Value of Teddy Bears to Hospitals

What good do the teddy bears do for the hospital?

Here is a short video of two key women working every day in the Child Life Center of the University of New Mexico Children’s Hospital in Albuquerque - New Mexico's only Children's Miracle Network Hospital.

UNM Children's Hospital is New Mexico's only Children's Miracle Network Hospital. Right now there’s a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital working to save the lives of kids in your community.

In fact, 62 children enter a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital for treatment every minute — that's one child every second. Some are battling cancer. Some are suffering from a traumatic injury. Others require constant care because they were born too early, or with a genetic disease. Regardless of why the kids are there, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals always have their doors open.

What good do the teddy bears do for the hospital?

They help the children feel better and that’s the ultimate goal of the hospital. Of course it takes lots of doctors, nurses, staff, tons of equipment and boxcars of cash to make a hospital run smoothly. But we can’t affect all that. But we can give a teddy bear to a child – to help them cope with their struggles and to feel better. And when we give to others, we feel better ourselves.
